Issues KS12 getting force from update to update...

Hey guys,

For me it seems that at the moment every update makes it worse.

On my brand new Mac Studio the performance gets worse every update.
Now after updating to 12.2.2.4 some scenes quit to work suddenly and
some crash while f.e. turning the 3D model as the real time performance is way below earlier experiences.

I already opened a support ticket too, but I am still lacking a sufficient response.

Can someone provide me a KS 12 version from the very beginning or, lets say, September?
I would really recommend maybe an archive database so users could go back to older versions of KS12/ KS2023 to try and test.

It ran quite well someday but at the moment I am in serious trouble as many render jobs can`t be done properly. Also we experienced the network rendering to freeze in between jobs randomly, causing the queue to stop proceeding.

Please, I need help ASAP.

I downloaded and installed the pretty “old” KS12.

All issues are gone and the real time performance i about 20x faster for me then the most recent version.

Maybe some of the mods can adress this issue for further releases.
Did you guys change some fundamentally which could cause the performance drop?

Yup, thx again for that. The best performance on my Mac i get though with the stone old 12.0.0.186 :wink:

We did get a customer report for crashes on MacOS and ARM that seem to look similar to the crashes you are describing. We sent a test build to the customer a while back to confirm a potential bugfix but unfortunately never heard back from them to confirm that our fix was working. To be clear, we think the crashes and the performance degradation are two separate problems. The KeyShot version above aims to fix the crashes, but is unlikely to improve the performance issues.

We are not sure what the cause of the performance degradation is. At first glance, we don’t see any changes between 2023.1 and 2023.3 that would explain this. We do however have a Mac Studio machine in the office. Is it a particular scene where you see the loss in performance or is it all scenes? What about one of our demo scenes? What about just a cube? Is that also slow for you on 2023.3? If it is particularly bad in your scene: Can you share your scene with us, for example via wetransfer?

@oscar.rottink I have discussed adding our dot releases to the “Previous Versions” page so that everyone can download these for troubleshooting. That way you won’t have to find/guess/store the old download links manually anymore! :slight_smile: I hope we can update that page soon.

The performance drop is widespread, visible clearer the more complex the scene gets.
